This range of standard pre-made gennaker sheets has been designed to make replacing sail sheets on your boat quick and simple. They come in three standard colours: grey, navy blue and red.
This is a basic specification for a gennaker sheet made from a durable double braid polyester Easycruise, from Italian rope makers Gottifredi Maffioli. At the cockpit end, it is finished with a Flemish eye and at the working end it has a covered eye splice plus a soft shackle, for connection to the clew of your sail.
This 8mm diameter x 25m long sheet is recommended for use as a gennaker sheet on boats between 31 - 37 ft. However, due to variations in sail sizes and cockpit setups, we suggest you double check the appropriate length for your own boat.
We use the following formulae for gennaker sheet length: 2.2 * Boat Length (LOA) It is better to have a sheet 2-3 m too long than too short!
You can also extend the life of an over-length sheet by re-splicing it and running it in the opposite direction.
N.B. Diameter recommendations are based on a medium displacement monohull. For heavy displacement boats and catamarans, you may need to go up a size in rope diameter.
