Available options come in 6mm, 8mm or 10mm in diameter and lengths of 1.5m or 2m, available in black, navy or grey. We also offer fender ropes made of polypropylene by 1852, a high-quality Scandinavian marine brand. Polypropylene absorbs less water than polyester and therefore dries faster. On the plus side, it's more cost effective than polyester and it floats, however, it is less resistant to abrasion and UV rays. When buying fender lines check that the length is appropriate, and the rope is sufficiently strong to firmly secure the fender in its intended position. Often, the fender ropes are not suitable for any other application, so we recommend you only buy ropes for their intended use.

What length should my fender lines be?

When determining the length of the fender lines, consider the height of the boat's side. For flexible and effective fender attachment aim for a line length ranging between 1.5 and 2.5 meters. Unlike rigid guidelines, fender rope lengths should be customized based on specific needs.

What thickness should my fender lines have?

For single lines, we suggest a minimum diameter of 6 mm, gradually increasing as boat and fender sizes increase. The following guidelines should help you choose the right thickness:

  • Boat Length - from 0 to 30 ft: Line Diameter - 6 mm
  • Boat Length - from 30 to 50 ft: Line Diameter - 8 mm
  • Boat Length - over 50 ft: Line Diameter - 10 mm

What is the best material for fender lines?

For optimal strength and durability, we recommend synthetic fibres, such as polyester, polypropylene, or polyamide. We recommend opting for a double braided rope for superior UV and abrasion protection, as it not only proves gentle on the hull but also boasts exceptional flexibility, strength, comfort in handling, and ease of splicing.
