Rope splicing options
At Upffront a wide range of splicing options is available from a simple whipping to a high-tech stripped and recovered end from different brands such as Kohlhoff Rigging with Gottifredi Maffioli, Robline and PremiumRopes.
EYE WITH COVER
Load bearing eye for connection to sails and fixed points on board.
FLEMISH EYE
Low-load reeving eye for pulling lines into mast and through deck leads. Often used instead of a whipping as it allows for extra cover to milk off the end of the line as it stretches over time.
WHIPPING
Simple stitched whipping for terminating lines.
COVER TAPER + SINGLEBRAID EYE
Reduce the diameter, weight and friction of a line by removing the cover. Add a load bearing un-covered eye splice to the end of the exposed core.
STRIP AND RECOVER
Remove the original cover and replace with a thin, lightweight Dyneema® cover for a low friction, durable finish.
EYE FOR ULTRAWIRE
Ultrawire 99 is more complex to splice due to the long braided core and tightly braided Dyneema® cover. Extra care is needed when the exact length of the finished product is important, eg for a backstay.
COVER TAPER
REDUCE THE DIAMETER, WEIGHT AND FRICTION OF A LINE BY REMOVING THE COVER. OFTEN USED FOR CONTROL LINE ENDS.
HARDWARE SPLICED IN
LOAD BEARING EYES CAN HAVE HARDWARE SPLICED DIRECTLY IN. HARDWARE CAN INCLUDE SHACKLE, THIMBLE, HALYARD STOPPER ETC. ANY HARDWARE MUST BE ADDED SEPARATELY TO THE CART.

Load bearing eye with integrated soft shackle built using the original core.
