Luff control
Luff control is a double swivel that matched with a stay allows you to adjust the tension of the Gennaker luff by pulling on a line from the cockpit. It may be fitted to an existing rollgen system. Luff Control swivels are specifically designed for top down furling asymmetrics. The top and bottom of the part swivel independently of each other and it is free to slide up and down the torsional cable. The tack of the asymmetric is attached to the top of the double swivel and the bottom is attached to a tack line which can be led down to the deck and back to the cockpit. Can I add a Luff Control Swivel to my existing top down furling system?
The swivel needs to be built into the torsional cable before the terminations are put on i.e. it is a permanent fixture on your top-down torsional cable. If you have a clamped torsional rope then it might be possible to retrofit a luff control swivel. These double swivels can be used on any make of cable - you just need to ensure the inner diameter of the swivel is big enough to run smoothly over the diameter of your torsional cable.
