UBI Maior Jiber-TX 22 Furler - Endlos: Trommel, Schaft und Fall Wirbel
The JIBER is a unique jib furler system developed by Ubi Maior (patented) and designed for sailors looking for both the performance of a racing foil (tuff-luff) and ease of a furler. The JIBER system employs a structural furler setup, where the entire forestay rotates during furling. This means there is no need for the heavy aluminium extruded foils of a traditional furler. However, most structural furlers have their own drawback: the head of the sail should be lashed at the top for proper furling performance which requires sending a person up the mast to hoist and lower the jib! The JIBER solves this issue with a short javelin fitted to the top of the forestay. The jib is hoisted on a swivelling shuttle which locks onto the javelin at the top and transfers the furling torque to the head of the sail. The JIBER exists for both rod and textile forestays. When combined with a suitable performance forestay the JIBER allows for reefing of the sail just like a traditional furler, while avoiding all that extra weight in the rig. The absence of aluminium foils also improves the aerodynamic performance of the jib, allowing the boat the sail higher and faster. The smaller dimensions of the furler makes room for bigger sails while the halyard tension can be adjusted continuously, as in a traditional jib furler. The JB22FR-TX includes a continuous line drum, the shaft and halyard swivel (shuttle). Note: The Jiber-TX can be sold separately (javelin and shuttle only) and can be fitted on any compatible structural furler with an Armare torsional cable, allowing every boat to be equipped like a modern ocean racer!
